| Reverse description | Laureate and draped bust of King Charles II facing right, faithfully reproduced from Thomas Simon's celebrated 1663 Petition Crown design, with the engraver's signature Simon inscribed in script below the truncation. The bust is rendered in exceptionally high sculptural relief, depicting the king wearing a laurel wreath and classical drapery, with flowing long hair characteristic of the Restoration period. The legend CAROLVS II · DEI · GRA is arranged around the upper and right arc of the field. The inner border features a raised toothed milling, and the edge carries a raised lettered inscription referencing Thomas Simon's original petition to the Crown. |
