Additional information

The five-ounce format entered the Royal Mint's bullion program as a middle tier between the standard one-ounce issue and the larger kilo coins — practical enough to stack, substantial enough to command a premium. This 2024 piece is among the first cohort of five-ounce silver struck under the Charles III obverse, following the transition from the long-running Jody Clark effigy of Elizabeth II. The Royal Mint formally introduced the new portrait by Martin Jennings in late 2023, making 2024-dated production the inaugural year at this weight class under the new reign.
