The Falkland Islands Currency Board has issued polymer notes since 2011, when De La Rue converted the series from cotton-paper. This 2025 issue is the first full replacement series to carry Charles III's effigy following the accession, and the Islands remain one of the smaller British Overseas Territories where the currency board retains its own distinct issue rather than adopting sterling.

De La Rue's Safeguard polymer substrate is produced in-house, making them unusual among security printers in controlling the base material as well as the printing.
