Obverse description Intaglio-printed note in black and green on white paper, with the bank title in ornate Gothic script across the upper portion. At left, an oval portrait vignette of a bearded gentleman in period dress is set within an elaborate foliate and scrollwork cartouche, flanked by a numeral '10' panel. The central field carries a large green guilloche underprint spelling 'TEN' over a promise-to-pay text in copperplate script reading 'We Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand the Sum of Ten Pounds, Malta, 1st Octr. 1886', with serial numbers at upper centre. A rectangular denomination panel inscribed '£TEN' appears at lower centre, and a perforated 'SPECIMEN / B.W.&CO / LONDON' cancellation is struck at lower right alongside a vertical 'MANAGERS.' tab.

Reverse description Printed entirely in green, the reverse is dominated by an elaborate guilloche composition centred on a large oval medallion bearing the bold letterpress denomination 'TEN' in white relief against a fine lathe-work ground. The oval is framed by an ornate border of interlocking foliate and engine-turned scrollwork panels radiating to all four corners, with repeating 'TEN' inscriptions within the inner border band. At the base of the central oval, the imprint 'BRADBURY, WILKINSON & Co. LONDON' is incorporated into the guilloche border. A perforated 'SPECIMEN / B.W.&CO / LONDON' cancellation appears at lower left.
