Obverse description Green and cream letterpress-printed notgeld. The centre is dominated by a large diamond-shaped vignette in green, within which the denomination '10' and the issuer name 'Stadtsparkasse' appear in bold blackletter (Fraktur) script above the city name 'Bielefeld'. The surrounding field carries a dense microtext underprint listing wartime food prices from Paris 1870 and Bielefeld 1917, framed by a green guilloche border with repeating geometric ornaments. A horizontal banner inscription reads 'ES KRIEGSNOTGELD IST DIES PAPIER BIS 1919 ERSTEN VIER-NES' and along the lower margin 'ES NEHMEN ANN GROSSEN MASSEN DIES GELD AUCH ALLE STÄDTISCHEN KAS', with the issuing authority 'MAGISTRAT BIELEFELD 1.7.1917' and three facsimile signatures below.

Reverse description Green and cream letterpress-printed reverse. The right half is occupied by a large, dramatically rendered vignette of a cabbage head in green and black, with a ribbon scroll across it bearing the legend 'Verbrauch Bielefeld 30.000 Zentner Winter 1916–17'. To the left, a circular cartouche encloses the denomination '10 Pf' in blackletter, below which 'Kriegsplatz-Anweisung' appears in Fraktur script. A red diamond-shaped stamp bearing the monogram 'SKB' (Stadtsparkasse Bielefeld) with the date '1917' is printed below the cartouche. The borders carry names of municipal officials in capital letters along all four margins, with 'OBERBUERGERMEISTER DR STAPENHORST' along the bottom and a serial number prefix 'B No' at upper left.
