Gottesberg was a small Silesian textile town — today Boguszów-Gorce in southwestern Poland — and like hundreds of German municipalities it issued its own Kleingeld-Ersatzscheine during the severe coin shortages of the First World War. The Stadtblatt-Druckerei was the town's own newspaper press, a thoroughly local operation pressed into monetary service. That the notes carry a watermark at all is worth noting for an issue of this size and origin; most comparable Notgeld from similarly small municipalities dispensed with security features entirely.
