Obverse description Orange-yellow ground with a brown decorative border composed of four ribbon-scroll cartouches bearing local rhymes in Gothic script. The upper portion carries the issuer's title 'Gutschein der Stadt Hamm (Westf.)' in brown letterpress, with the denomination 'Zehn Pfennig' rendered in large red Fraktur type below. A white panel at centre contains the validity clause, the date '1. Oktober 1921', the authority line 'Der Magistrat:', and two facsimile signatures with the titles 'Oberbürgermeister' and 'Bürgermeister' printed beneath them.

Reverse description Orange-yellow ground with acanthus scroll ornaments at the lower corners. Two stout male figures in folk costume stand back to back at centre, each raising a foaming beer mug, their arms linked around a large barrel on which a circular vignette bears the city arms of Hamm above the inscription 'Hammes Keut' in Gothic lettering. The denomination '10 / PF.' appears in red within white circular cartouches at the upper left and upper right.
