Additional information

Zeitz's 1919 notgeld issue was one of hundreds of emergency municipal coinages produced across Germany following the collapse of the Kaiserreich, when the new Weimar government was too preoccupied with political survival and reparations negotiations to stabilize small-denomination circulation. Zinc was the pragmatic choice — copper and nickel had been systematically stripped from civilian coinage during the war years for shell casings and industrial use, leaving local authorities to work with whatever base metals remained accessible.

The Funck 622.2 designation places this among the documented die variants for the Landkreis issue.
