| Obverse description | Enthroned frontal figure of Count William I of Jülich, seated on a bench-throne, wearing a crown and long robes, holding a sceptre in his right hand and a heraldic shield bearing the arms of Jülich (lion rampant) in his left. The figure is rendered in the flat, linear style characteristic of Rhenish hammered coinage of the early fourteenth century. A beaded inner circle surrounds the central design, with the Gothic Latin legend distributed around the periphery of the coin. |
