Obverse description The Imperial German eagle displayed with spread wings, bearing a small shield on its breast, occupies the central field. The eagle is rendered in high relief with fine feather detail, flanked by scrollwork along the lower register. The Berlin mint mark 'A' appears twice below the scrollwork at the base, within a beaded border encircling the entire design. No peripheral legend is present on this side, the eagle motif filling the field in the heraldic tradition of the German Empire.

The arc legend 'DEUTSCHES REICH' curves along the upper periphery, and the date '1915' appears beneath the denomination. The Berlin mint mark 'A' is positioned at the base, below the date. The entire design is enclosed within a rope or cable border, characteristic of the German Imperial Pfennig series.
