Prößdorf is a small village in Saxony, and this note is exactly what the issuer's name suggests: a rural cooperative savings and loan association issuing its own small-denomination scrip. These Darlehnskassen-Vereine — Raiffeisen-type credit cooperatives — proliferated across the German countryside during the notgeld period precisely because small coins vanished from circulation and the major urban issuers weren't serving agricultural communities.
At 10 Pfennig, this is fractional notgeld in the most literal sense — emergency change money for transactions too small for any official currency then available.
