Additional information

Pößneck's 1918 iron notgeld issue was one of thousands of emergency municipal coinages produced across Germany as wartime metal requisitioning stripped copper and nickel from civilian circulation entirely. By mid-1918 the imperial government had already been seizing church bells; coinage metal was long gone. Iron was the fallback, though its tendency to corrode makes truly uncirculated survivors genuinely uncommon a century on.
