| Additional information |
Nordenham's 1918 iron notgeld was produced in response to the acute metal shortages that plagued German municipalities in the war's final year, when copper and nickel had long since been redirected to the military. Hundreds of German cities issued their own emergency coinage during this period, and the Stadt Nordenham was among the smaller communities compelled to do so — its industrial port identity on the Weser estuary made it a logistical node dependent on reliable small change for daily labor transactions.
The Funck 382.2A designation distinguishes this from at least one other die variety in the Nordenham series.
