| Obverse description | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a beaded inner border enclosing the large numeral '10' prominently displayed in the center field. The circular legend reads 'KRIEGSGELD STADT LÖRRACH' around the upper periphery, with the date '1917' flanked by small ornamental stars at the base, all separated from the outer rim by a continuous row of raised beads. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, consistent with wartime emergency coinage production. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a boldly rendered lark in full flight occupying the majority of the central field, depicted facing left with wings spread upward and tail feathers fanned outward to the right, its detailed feathering rendered in low relief. The bird's posture is dynamic and naturalistic, referencing the lark (Lerche) as a heraldic symbol associated with Lörrach. A continuous beaded border frames the design, with a plain flat rim beyond. The field is otherwise unadorned and bears no additional legend or inscription. Varieties are distinguished by the precise alignment of the lark's tail lines relative to the coin's octagonal corners. |

| Additional information |
Lörrach's 1917 zinc notgeld issue belongs to the first wave of municipal emergency coinage that flooded Germany after the imperial government requisitioned copper and nickel for shell casings and military hardware. Zinc was allocated reluctantly — it too had strategic value — and many municipalities had to petition regional authorities for minting permission before production could begin.
The Funck 303.2 designation distinguishes this from at least one other die variety in the Lörrach series, a detail worth tracking for completeness in a notgeld collection.
