Issued by the Königliches Hauptlaboratorium in Ingolstadt — the Royal Main Artillery Laboratory responsible for munitions production and testing — this zinc notgeld token circulated internally during the acute coinage shortage of World War I, when the German military requisitioned copper and nickel for war production, forcing military installations to issue their own small-denomination scrip to handle routine transactions among personnel and workers on site.
