| Additional information |
Grafenwöhr's training command for officer candidates — the Fahnenjunker and Offizier-Aspiranten program — issued its own zinc canteen currency during the First World War, when the German military widely adopted internal token systems to keep expenditure contained within camp economies. Zinc was the material of necessity by that point; copper and nickel had been systematically diverted to war production from 1915 onward.
The Mehl reference numbers suggest two catalogued die or emission variants for this denomination.
