Additional information

Schlüter's Freising factory produced agricultural machinery and engines with enough of a workforce that issuing scrip became practical — a common move among German industrial firms during the notgeld period, when small-denomination coinage disappeared from circulation almost entirely between 1916 and the early 1920s. Factory-issued brass tokens like this one functioned within the company's own payment ecosystem, redeemable at the works canteen or company store rather than in general commerce.

The Menzel reference numbers place this squarely in the documented notgeld corpus, though factory pieces see far less collector scrutiny than municipal issues.
