| Obverse description | Beaded border encircles the central field, within which the municipal coat of arms of Darmstadt is prominently displayed: a divided shield bearing a rampant lion in the upper half and a fleur-de-lis in the lower half, surmounted by a mural crown. The curved legend STADT DARMSTADT arcs above the shield in the upper field, flanked by two five-pointed stars, while the date 1917 appears below the shield at the base of the design. |
