Obverse description Red and black letterpress design on cream paper, with a fine horizontal-line guilloche underprint filling the central field. A large dark eagle vignette is printed at centre, overlaid by the bold red numerals '10' and the denomination 'Pfennig' in Gothic blackletter type. The heading 'Notgeld der Stadt Arnstadt' arcs across the top in Gothic script, flanked by decorative scroll ornaments; the year '1921' appears at the foot. A validity notice 'Gültig bis 1 Monat nach Aufruf' is set to the left, and a facsimile magistrate signature with the legend 'der Magistrat' appears to the lower right, below a series letter. The designer's name 'A PAUL WEBER' is inscribed in the bottom margin below the frame.

Reverse description Printed in red-brown on cream paper with a plain rectangular border, the reverse carries a humorous caricature vignette in the A. Paul Weber style, showing two rustic figures — a hunched man and a seated woman — engaged in an animated exchange, their forms integrated with the large bold numerals '10' in black at centre. Denomination numerals '10' appear in each upper corner and repeated at lower left and right flanking the word 'Pfennig' in Gothic script. A witty folk aphorism runs around the inner border frame, and the monogram 'APW' is inscribed at the bottom centre between two stars.
