Obverse description Plain zinc field enclosed by a continuous beaded border running the full circumference of the coin. The legend GEMEINDE in arched capitals occupies the upper portion of the field, with BURGHASLACH inscribed in large bold letters across the centre. The date 1917 appears in the lower portion of the field, flanked on either side by a small six-pointed star ornament. The overall design is utilitarian in character, typical of German First World War municipal notgeld issues.
