| Obverse description | Within a raised inner circle, the heraldic rampant lion of Barmen faces left in the central field, depicted in bold relief standing on a decorative base. The legend STADT BARMEN curves along the upper periphery between the inner circle and the outer beaded border. Five six-pointed stars are evenly spaced along the lower arc of the border, flanking the base of the inner circle. The entire design is enclosed by a prominent beaded rim. |
