| Obverse description | Printed in dark teal and black on pale paper, the obverse is divided into three vertical zones: at left, a tall narrow vignette contains a standing medieval armoured civic guardian on a plinth inscribed '1392'; the central field bears Gothic script reading 'Notgeld der Stadt Erfurt' with the date 'Erfurt, den 9. April 1920', the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat', and a manuscript facsimile signature beneath an applied circular official seal. At right, a vertical decorative border panel carries the denomination '10 Pfennig' at top and bottom, flanking the Erfurt civic coat of arms bearing a wheel motif, with a red serial number printed along the lower margin. |
