Comments

Zörbig, a small Saxon town between Halle and Bitterfeld, issued this Notgeld during the acute small-change shortage that followed Germany's postwar inflation spiral. The dual-printer arrangement — H. F. Jütte in Leipzig handling one component and H. Schiebel in Bitterfeld handling another — was unusual even by the improvised standards of municipal emergency currency. Whether this reflects a split print run, overprinting, or a supply constraint at one firm is not definitively recorded.

Bitterfeld's proximity to Zörbig made Schiebel a logical local partner.
