Zörbig is a small town in Saxony-Anhalt, and its 1921 Notgeld issue belongs to the second wave of German municipal emergency currency — the period after the Reichsbank's coin shortages had already forced thousands of towns into self-financing their own small change. H. Schiebel of Bitterfeld was a local commercial printer with no particular specialization in currency work, which places this firmly in the category of purely functional issues rather than the collectible "Serienscheine" that larger municipalities commissioned as deliberate revenue streams.

The 10 Pfennig denomination suggests real transactional use — too small to be a commemorative vanity piece.
