Oberweißbach is a small Thuringian village best known as the birthplace of Friedrich Fröbel, inventor of the kindergarten. Wiedemannsche Druckerei in nearby Saalfeld handled a substantial volume of Thuringian Notgeld commissions during this period, which accounts for the consistent production quality across regional issues from small municipalities that lacked any independent printing relationships.
