Waltershausen notgeld from the 1921 inflationary wave — one of hundreds of small Thuringian municipalities that pressed local printers into service when the Reichsbank could no longer supply adequate small-denomination coin. Hoh. Debes was a local printing firm, and the use of a named designer, R. Dünkel, is a minor distinction; most emergency issues at this level were produced without any design credit at all.
The countersignature of Hofmann i.V. — in Vertretung, meaning he signed on behalf of a superior — suggests routine administrative delegation rather than anything exceptional about this particular emission.
