Additional information

This piece belongs to Mexico's long-running series celebrating the colonial-era casa de moneda network — each issue tied to a specific historical mint city. Veracruz is the odd entry: the city never housed a permanent mint during the colonial period, but served as the primary Atlantic port through which New Spain's silver output was shipped to Seville. The coin commemorates that economic role rather than a minting one.

KM#681 was struck at Mexico City in a limited proof edition. Mintage for the individual state issues in this series was capped at 10,000 pieces.
