Reverse description The reverse presents a detailed rendition of the central female allegorical figure of Liberty from Eugène Delacroix's celebrated 1830 painting 'Liberty Guiding the People,' depicted striding forward bearing a flag and musket. The dates 1789 and 1989 appear above the figure, flanking the composition to mark the revolutionary bicentennial. The French Revolutionary motto LIBERTAD IGUALDAD • FRATERNIDAD arcs along the lower periphery in a circular legend. The mint mark is positioned to the left of the central design in the field.
