Additional information

Cuba's hard-currency commemorative program of the 1990s was explicitly designed to generate foreign exchange during the Special Period — the economic crisis that followed the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991. These silver issues were never intended for domestic circulation and were sold almost exclusively through international numismatic channels.

This piece belongs to a Seven Wonders of the Ancient World series. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times, the final structure razed by the Goths in 262 AD.
