Obverse description Central field features the Cuban coat of arms rendered in polychrome enamel, depicting a shield divided into three quarters: the upper portion shows a golden rising sun over a blue sea with a key in the center, the lower-left quarter bears diagonal blue and white stripes representing the Cuban flag, and the lower-right quarter displays a green royal palm on a rocky landscape. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked on both sides by lush green oak and laurel branches tied at the base with a red and yellow ribbon. The circumferential legend reads VISITA REAL CUBA in the left and upper arc, with the date 1999 along the right arc. A small key-shaped mintmark and a star appear in the lower exergual field.
