Reverse description The reverse features a colorized depiction of the Santa Maria, Christopher Columbus's flagship, shown under full sail navigating stylized blue waves rendered in applied color. The vessel is portrayed in fine detail, with three masts carrying cream-colored sails each bearing a bold red cross of the Order of Christ, and a richly detailed brown hull with visible planking and rigging. The arched legend ENCUENTRO DE DOS MUNDOS (Encounter of Two Worlds) curves along the upper rim, while the name SANTA MARIA appears within a ribbon scroll in the lower exergue. The date 2001 is inscribed to the lower right of the ship's hull, accompanied by the mint mark of the Empresa Cubana de Acuñaciones.
