Reverse description The reverse features a bold, high-relief frontal representation of the severed head of Coyolxauhqui, the Aztec lunar deity, inspired by the monumental stone disc discovered at the Templo Mayor in Mexico City. The sculptural effigy occupies the upper two-thirds of the field, rendered with characteristic Mexica iconographic detail including circular disk ear ornaments, a finely textured headdress of cropped hair or feathers across the crown, and the deity's open mouth with protruding tongue. The denomination legend 'DIEZ PESOS' and the date '1978' are inscribed in two lines of bold raised capitals in the lower field beneath the effigy.
