Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, with a serpent grasped in its beak and right talon. The eagle is rendered in fine detail with fully spread wings, consistent with the post-1968 arms design. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the device, tied with a ribbon at the bottom. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery in incuse Latin lettering against the deeply mirrored proof field.
