Reverse description Two conjoined busts are presented in high relief at the centre of the field: Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla on the left, depicted bare-headed and in clerical dress, and Francisco I. Madero on the right, shown bearded and in civilian attire with a bow tie, their names inscribed below each effigy respectively. The dates 1810 and 1910 flank the busts at either side, while the year 1960 appears above in the upper field. The surrounding peripheral legend reads INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD along the upper arc and SUFRAGIO EFECTIVO NO REELECCION along the lower arc, commemorating the 150th anniversary of Mexican Independence and the 50th anniversary of the Revolution.
