Additional information

Cuba issued a wave of commemorative silver throughout the late 1990s targeting the European collector market, and this piece is squarely part of that program. The Hannover Expo 2000 provided a convenient licensing hook — dozens of national mints and issuing authorities produced authorized commemoratives for the event, Cuba among them. Actual circulation in Cuba was never the point; the domestic peso economy ran on entirely different terms, and .999 silver 10-peso pieces were effectively export products priced in hard currency from inception.
