Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring the traditional shield divided into three sections bearing a golden key, a rising sun over the sea, and a royal palm tree between mountains, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a fasces. The shield is flanked by two laurel and oak branches tied at the base. The circumferential legend reads 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' along the upper arc, while the denomination '10 PESOS' appears at the base; the fineness indicator 'AG 0.999' is positioned along the right inner margin and '1 OZ' along the left inner margin, all struck in the Latin script against a mirrored proof field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a detailed reproduction of the wind rose from the celebrated 1500 portolan chart of Juan de la Cosa, the earliest extant cartographic document to show the Americas. Sixteen radiating compass points extend from a central medallion, with small star and cross motifs marking the cardinal and intercardinal directions. At the heart of the design, within a circular cartouche, is a Gothic-style miniature of the Virgin and Child enthroned and attended by angels, faithfully reproducing the vignette that de la Cosa placed over the North American coastline on his original map. The upper arc bears the legend 'RELIQUIAS DE LA NAVEGACION' and the lower arc reads '1a ROSA DE LOS VIENTOS de JUAN DE LA COSA', with the year '2000' integrated into the lower legend, all in Latin script.
