Obverse description Allegorical female figure known as 'Chilena' depicted as a winged angel in high relief, shown facing with both arms raised and broken shackles or chains at her wrists, symbolising liberation following the military coup of 11 September 1973 that overthrew President Salvador Allende. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE arcs along the upper periphery, while the commemorative date 11-IX 1973 and the word LIBERTAD appear in the lower field. The Santiago mint mark (So) is also present in the field.
