Obverse description Mexican national arms at center: an eagle displayed standing left atop a prickly-pear cactus growing from a rocky island in a lake, with a serpent grasped in its beak and talons. The arms are encircled by a wreath of oak branches at left and laurel branches at right, tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA MEXICANA runs along the upper periphery, with the date appearing in the lower field below the arms.

Reverse description A balance scale with two pans in the center field, symbolizing justice, surmounted by a radiant Phrygian liberty cap. Below the scales, a scroll inscribed LEY (Law) is crossed diagonally by a sword. Along the lower periphery appear the mint mark and assayer's initial, the denomination DIEZ PESOS, and the gold fineness 875 in raised letters. The legend LIBERTAD arcs across the upper field.
