| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King Alfonso XII facing right, depicting the monarch as a young adult with short curly hair and a nascent beard, engraved in high relief against a smooth field. The legend ALFONSO XII POR LA G. DE DIOS curves along the periphery, with the date flanked by two six-pointed stars positioned in the lower portion of the field. The portrait represents the second official effigy type of Alfonso XII, distinguished from the earlier boyish likeness by its more mature rendering. A fine beaded border frames the entire design. |
