Reverse description The reverse depicts a large square-rigged sailing vessel of medieval or early modern type occupying the right portion of the field, rendered in detailed relief with full sails and pennants flying from the masts. To the left stands a robed desert figure, likely representing a Sahrawi or North African mariner, facing the ship. The bilingual inscription 'EMBARCACION ANTIGUA' appears in stylized lettering in the upper left field, accompanied by Arabic script above it. The date '2018' is inscribed at the base of the design.

Additional information

Western Sahara has no functioning government with recognized mint authority — the territory remains disputed between Morocco, which administers most of it, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, which controls a thin eastern strip. Neither entity issued this coin for circulation. It was produced by a private mint for the collector market, exploiting the romantic ambiguity of a stateless territory's name.
