| Additional information |
Western Sahara has no functioning government with minting authority — the territory remains divided between Moroccan administration and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, the latter recognized by dozens of states but controlling little more than a thin strip of desert. Coins issued under the "Western Sahara" label are produced by private minting houses, typically in Europe, targeting the collector market rather than any actual circulation. No monetary infrastructure exists to deploy them.
