| Reverse description | Central device depicts a lion passant guardant, royally crowned, rendered in high relief and representing part of the Crest of England. The lion is shown striding to the left with its head turned to face the viewer, in the heraldic passant guardant attitude. The legend TEN PENCE arcs above the central device in the upper field, while the numeral 10 appears in the lower field below the lion, serving as the denomination indicator. The design is the work of engraver Christopher Ironside, originally introduced for the decimal coinage of 1968. |
