Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, depicting the second portrait modelled by Arnold Machin, wearing a girlish diadem and with her hair dressed in curls. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower centre of the field. The circumferential legend reads QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND, with the date 1992 positioned in the lower exergue beneath the effigy. The portrait is rendered in a youthful, idealised style characteristic of Machin's acclaimed coinage design.

Additional information

Jersey's small-format 10 pence was introduced as part of a broader UK-driven rationalization that saw the larger 10p — a coin that had circulated since decimalization in 1971 — withdrawn across the British Isles in 1993. Jersey, which issues its own currency but maintains parity with sterling, followed suit. The timing meant this type had a short effective circulation window despite spanning five years of striking.
