| Obverse description | Uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, engraved by Glyn Davies, occupying the central field with naturalistic portrait detail. The circumferential legend reads CHARLES III · BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY, arranged around the upper and lower periphery. The date 2024 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by decorative dots. The portrait is rendered without a crown or diadem, consistent with the standard post-coronation effigy adopted for British Crown Dependencies. |

| Additional information |
Guernsey's decision to issue colored circulating-format coinage under Charles III reflects the island's long-standing practice of leveraging its monetary autonomy to produce collector-oriented pieces outside the constraints of Royal Mint policy. The Friesian cow has appeared on Guernsey coinage since decimalization in 1971, making it one of the more durable livestock motifs in British Isles numismatics.
The color application on nickel plated steel is a pad-printing process, not enamel — longevity in circulation is essentially nil by design.
