Additional information

Struck to mark the 1956 coronation of King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah, who had formally ascended following the death of his father Tribhuvan in March 1955. The coronation itself was delayed nearly a year, a period during which Nepal was navigating its first tentative steps toward constitutional governance — Mahendra would later dismantle that experiment entirely when he abolished the elected parliament in 1960 and imposed his Panchayat system of direct royal rule.
