| Reverse description | Central depiction of the Haʻamonga ʻa Maui Trilithon, the ancient megalithic stone arch monument of Tonga, shown in high relief against a plain field. The trilithon is composed of two upright coral limestone slabs supporting a horizontal lintel, faithfully rendered in miniature. The legend 'HAʻAMONGA TRILITHON' curves along the upper rim, while the denomination '10 Paʻanga' is inscribed in the lower field below the monument. |

George Tupou V formally surrendered most of his executive powers in 2010, just a year before this coin was issued, transferring political authority to a democratically elected parliament — ending nearly two centuries of absolute monarchy in Tonga. He died in 2012, making 2011 issues from his reign among the last struck in his name.
