Obverse description Central field features the ornately interlaced royal cypher of King Oscar II — a stylized 'O II' monogram rendered in elaborate calligraphic scrollwork — surmounted by the Swedish-Norwegian royal crown with cross finial. The mintmark appears in the lower field beneath the monogram. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the legend 'BRODERFOLKENES VEL' (meaning 'The Brother Peoples' Welfare') arching in a semicircle along the upper periphery in incuse Latin capitals.
