| Reverse description | Central field occupied by a large Greek numeral I (denoting 10 nummi) flanked on either side by ANNO and the regnal year numeral in Roman numerals, with the mint signature NIK (for Nicomedia) positioned in the lower exergue. A cross patée appears above the numeral I at the top of the central device. The design is contained within a slightly irregular flan, with the legend and numerals rendered in a bold, utilitarian style typical of Byzantine provincial bronze issues. The layout follows the standard dated decanummium format introduced under Justinian I's monetary reform. |
