Reverse description Central field dominated by a large upright numeral I, representing the value of 10 nummi (decanummium) in the Roman notation standard of the period. Flanking the numeral to the left is the letter N and to the right the letter I, together forming the mint mark NI for Nicomedia. Small pellets or decorative elements appear in the angles around the central mark. The legend CONCORDI, an abbreviated reference to Concordia, is distributed around the coin, invoking imperial harmony. The overall design is stark and functional, with minimal decorative embellishment, typical of the small copper fractional coinage introduced under Anastasius I's monetary reform of 498 AD.
