This piece belongs to Israel's long-running Biblical Art series, which the Bank of Israel began issuing in 1995 to commemorate narratives from the Hebrew scriptures. The Burning Bush subject draws from Exodus 3, the moment Moses encounters the divine at Horeb — a passage with particular resonance in a state whose founders were themselves refugees from persecution. The series has always attracted dual audiences: Jewish communities abroad purchasing through official channels, and numismatists drawn to the consistently high production standards of the Israel Coins and Medals Corporation.
KM#388 was struck in a limited proof edition, as is standard for the Biblical Art releases, keeping most survivors in unimpaired condition.
